Deworming your pup
Also test for Giardia, as this is even more common today than worms! If pup has a bad case you may need metronidazole and panacur together. You can pick up Safeguard (which is the same as Panacur) at Tractor supply (TSC) my experienced trusted vet advised me on this.
Beware of ‘Chain’ Vets trying to cure Giardia with only a few days of Panacur as this rarely works and you will spend months trying to get rid of it as your dog builds up a resistence, which makes it even more difficult to kill the parasite, or to get it out of your lawn (reinfection) !!! I learned this the hard way and spent 8 months trying to get rid of it!!! I switched back to my old vet and it was gone within 2 months.
I compared prices vet to vet and the ‘Chain vets’ are out to make money! I personally have been through this and wasted thousands at a Chain vet, because it was close to home. This last year I went back to my trusted vet who is an hour away and worth every mile. I am back to having peace of mind with my dogs and spending less on BETTER care! Live and Learn, I say.
